Brantley Gilbert‘s tour bus made an emergency stop during transportation of The Ones That Like Me 2018 Tour. On Monday, March 12, Gilbert posted a video to Instagram, of his tour bus in flames. No one was injured and Brantley wasn’t on board. His drivers were in the process of bringing the bus back south from a Canadian leg of the tour.
At the time Gilbert had a great sense of humor, his posted video plays his song “Hell on Wheels,” from his 2010 album Halfway to Heaven, and joking that they will be adding pyrotechnics to the show. However, in the week following the incident the country artist opened up about the great loss.
Brantley explains, “It’s not so much like, ‘Awww, your bus burned down.’ It’s more like, ‘Man, my house burned down.’ So, it’s been interesting … Anybody that knows me will tell you that I get real attached to my bus. I spend a lot of time on it, and if [wife] Amber and [infant son] Barrett aren’t home, I sleep in the bus. It’s just my place. It’s kind of like my little sanctuary, so I feel like I kinda lost an old friend a little bit, but we’ll build another one.”
Gilbert had also recently finished a customization of his bus to make it more comfortable and family friendly for his wife and son when they join him on out. Additionally they lost a few guitars, stage clothes, letters, notes and photographs in the bus fire.
As they say in show business, she show must go on. The bus fire won’t stop the tour from continuing and Brantley from sharing his music with his fans, though. “The Ones That Like Me Tour” continues on to Florida, Kentucky, Tennessee and more.
