Despite all the rain we saw on Sunday this weekend was a great one. Throughout the weekend I stopped in at the Fort St. John Mixed Slo-Pitch League Year End (City Champs) at the Surerus Park ball diamonds. Division A, B, C and D ball teams competed in separate pools in a double knock-out style tournament Saturday and Sunday. This tournament marks the end of the 2016 slo-pitch season, the teams will start back up in May of 2017. T
The big event this weekend, which I found very interesting, was the Pokemon Go Catching Competition. Having never played Pokemon, before I definitely learned a lot about the game and why everyone likes it so much. Teams Mystic, Valor and Instinct took off to hunt Pokemon for four hours at four different lures around Centennial Park. The winners were the ones who caught the most Pokemon in the allotted time. The adult prize was an iPhone 6S, while the 12 and under winner, Connor S., won a month of Jiu Jitsu classes for catching over 100 Pokemon! The event saw a huge turn out!
The Farmer’s Market also had an interesting addition to their usual Saturday vendors, besides an excess of Pokemon hunters. NEAT held a Electro Recycle Round-Up at the Farmer’s Market collecting old an broken electronics in exchange for an entry in a draw for 100 Farmer’s Market dollars.
See you all again next weekend!
