Hey, it’s Lauren Hrab here! I am the lucky one who gets to drive around all summer in the Hair Bin Summer Cruiser to all the great events this town has to offer! I am a local here in town and have been a part of the community since I was four years old. I graduated from high school back in 2017 and didn’t end up going very far for post-secondary. I just completed my first year of nursing at Grande Prairie Regional College.
This weekend Sydney and I cruised around and stopped in at some really cool events that were happening! Our first stop on this windy Saturday was at the Fort St. John Curling Rink where some ELC students were holding a Craft and Home Business Fair. They were raising money to support the curling club and had some really cool vendors attending, I even got to enjoy a nice back massage to start my day off right!
Next, we headed to Home Hardware Building Centre where they were holding the Dig Into Summer Event. There were lots of activities down there like a dunk tank, a barbecue, face painting, and vendors with homemade wooden creations!
Our afternoon was filled with a dog wash put on by ELC students who were fundraising to give someone in town a service dog. They had a barbecue going on so we filled our tummies and got to watch some adorable puppies get all cleaned up! Then we headed to Centennial Park where all the Pride festivities were getting underway, we watched to parade walk and the dancing commence. There were lots of things to do in the park with a dance happening later tonight at the Curling Rink. You can get tickets for the North Peace Pride Video Dance Party by clicking here! The evening will kick off at 8:00 PM.
Our last stop this afternoon was at the North Peace Museum to check out the Doc Kearney Solar Prints exhibit that just opened today! Dr. Kearney’s Niece was there to speak about the photos and the legacy that Dr. Kearney left in our community. You can see the exhibit until August 24th, for more information check out the museum’s website, here.
It was a full Saturday but the first of many! I’m really excited to see you all around town this summer and if you have any events that you would like to see me at, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
That’s all for today,
