This weekend was jammed with activities for the whole family! Friday night kicked it off with Movies In The Park showing The Good Dinosaur and Mamma Mia. On Saturday I stopped in at NEAT’s Community Can and helped the ladies cut up veggies to be canned. They worked hard to put together canned goods to send to the Salvation Army and the Women’s Resource Society. The next Community Can is coming up on September 10th! Then I headed to the Fundraising Yard Sale for Haskiz which is raising money for a local lady with brain cancer. They were selling household items, lemonade, handmade cards and raffle tickets for the Bailey Helicopters raffle. On Sunday morning my mom and I took part in the Rotary Mother’s Day 5K Run! The Run supported the Women’s Resource Society and was complete with a 10K, 5K, Kids 1K, Jazzercise warm-up and a pancake breakfast to follow. The rainy weather didn’t slow down the 200+ participants who came out for the run.
I spent the rest of the weekend between the North Peace Fall Fair and the Allen LaFleur Red Eye Tournament of Hope. The fall fair was packed with cattle shows, arts and crafts exhibits, kids zone, talent shows, the tractor pull and much more! This years Red Eye tournament saw a turn out of 40 teams who competed over the weekend and raised money for locals Karsten Mayinger and Raymond Auger who are both fighting cancer. The teams braved the rain all weekend long in the non-stop tournament.
Make sure you get out and about next weekend for the Hair Bin summer cruiser’s last weekend in the Peace!
