As we near, dare I say it, the end of summer there are still a ton of events going on in and around Fort St. John! This weekend is going to kick off tonight with the last free Movies In The Park of the summer. The first movie to play is The Good Dinosaur at 7:00 pm with Mamma Mia to follow. The Northern Dance Society will be selling popcorn by donation and Tasty Dogs will also be there with some delicious snacks to buy.
On Saturday I will be stopping in at NEAT’s Community Can at the Calvary Baptist Church which starts at 10 am. If you have any extra produce or cans lying around please donate them. NEAT is also looking for volunteers to help with the canning! Afterwards I am going to check out the Fundraising Yard Sale for Haskiz at 10213 102 St. This is the second yard sale for Haskiz who suffers from brain cancer, Bailey helicopters will also be at the sale with their raffle tickets for a helicopter/ fishing trip to Hook Lake. Please stop in to show your community support! I am also going to head out to the North Peace Fall Fair and the Allen LaFleur Red Eye Ball Tournament. This years Red Eye is the biggest yet with 40 teams, all playing to raise money for Karsten Mayinger and Raymond Auger who both suffer from cancer. The Fall Fair is taking place at the North Peace Fall Fair grounds, while the Allen LaFleur Red Eye takes place at the Taylor ball diamonds, both events run Friday to Sunday.
Other events that you can head to on Saturday are Ladies Art & Wine Night at the College, the Halfway River Rodeo, and the Snak The Ripper & Merkules show at the Lido.
On Sunday I’m going to be taking part in the rescheduled Rotary Mother’s Day Run/ Walk in support of the Women’s Resource Society. The race starts at 10:00 pm at the Surerus Ball Diamonds. There are over 400 people registered! I’ll also be hanging out at the Fall Fair and the Red Eye Tournament throughout Sunday.
If you’ve got anything else going on that you want me to attend send me an email firstname.lastname@example.org or call (250)787-7100. Hope to see everyone out and about!
