This past weekend was one of the first summer weekends without any rain! The weekend kicked off Saturday morning with Sarah and I cooking up some delicious chili at Dr. Kearney for the Chili Bowl Bash that evening. Jumpstart Day at Canadian Tire was next, they had a firetruck, a race car, a bouncy castle and a ton of games for kids to take part in while raising money so underprivileged children in the community can play sports. In the afternoon I was hanging out at Glenn Fox Sand & Gravel where they were having their 30th Anniversary Celebration, complete with family, friends, BBQ and a gift for Glenn himself. He has been in business for +30 years in Fort St. John and going strong, congrats Glenn! I headed down to Taylor for the Arnie Isberg Memorial 1 -Pitch Tournament for some softball action to wrap up the day. Sunday started off right with some community garage sales… I saw a poker table, a huge Christmas tree and a bunch of games and books at the garage sales. Next I headed over to The Space to watch some auditions for four upcoming plays produced by Stage North. This was the coolest part of my weekend because I have never been to anything like it, and it was interesting to watch people step out of their comfort zones to perform. Our weekend host Ted sent me in their direction and I am so glad that he did. After that I stopped by the Fort St. John Farmer’s Market for a quick visit, then headed on down to the Taylor Farmer’s Market where I bought a cool wooden bracelet and some fresh cherries. Me and my cherries then jumped across the road to the Taylor ball diamonds to take in the semi-final games of the Arnie Isberg tournament. The softball tournament, which raised money for the FSJ Cancer Fund, was the perfect end to an awesome weekend!
